Change is in the wind!
Beaulieu Canada believes in the power of the wind – a clean and renewable source of energy. Used in conjunction with other energy sources, it does not generate greenhouse gases or other pollutants.
Beaulieu Commercial’s mills now obtain 100% of their electricity through wind power. They purchase over 9 million kWh of REC’s (renewable energy credits) which is the equivalent to powering 725 households for one year.
Bright Ideas!
When expanding its Farnham distribution centre, Beaulieu Canada installed a Solarwall® in place of using conventional masonry. This remarkable technology is an efficient system designed to capture solar energy to heat the air between its specially engineered walls before it enters the buildings ventilation system. This process reduces the building’s heat dependency on fossil fuel or electrical resources. On a bright sunny day, the Solarwall® can raise the air temperature by 16° to 40° C.
By using a Solarwall®, every year Beaulieu Canada saves 322 tons of greenhouse gas emissions from being released into the atmosphere.
Lighting the way to a better future! Beaulieu Canada has retrofitted lights in its manufacturing plants to high efficiency fluorescent tubes, installed motion sensors on equipment and implemented a “Turn off the Lights” campaign for all our employees.
In 2007, Beaulieu Canada reduced its overall electricity consumption by more than 10% - or the equivalent to 22,000,000 100 W light bulbs being lit for one hour. |
